Wedding decorating classes and schools generally teach student various concepts of wedding planning and decorating. Wedding planners are trained to coordinate all aspects of weddings, including the most important concept, the decorating. Classes in wedding decorating/planning can be found in a few major U.S. cities in addition to the many wedding planner/decorator courses available online.
On-Site/Brick and Mortar Wedding Schools
Sheffield School, located in New York City, has a wedding and event planning course that teaches students how to plan and decorate weddings and other events. The course consists of 20 lessons with workbooks, professional support and virtual internship projects included in the program. The International School of Hospitality in Las Vegas, Nevada, offers a certificate program in wedding coordination and design. Some components of the program focus on designing, planning and executing traditional, non-traditional, cultural, fantasy and destination weddings. Students are required to participate in a 30-hour internship at the conclusion of the program.
Online Wedding Courses
The Wedding Planning Institute offers an online wedding and event planner certification course. The course teaches students concepts such as vendor and venue selection, traditions and cultures, how to create signature weddings, planning and organization skills. In addition, the institute offers its course through numerous partner colleges nationwide. Ashworth College offers an online, 14-lesson course in bridal consulting. Lessons include etiquette, traditions and customs, ceremonies, budgeting, decorating, honeymoon planning and business strategies.
Additional Online Courses
The Association of Certified Professional Wedding Consultants offers a home study wedding consultant program in addition to a course tour in various U.S. cities. The course teaches concepts such as budgeting, rentals and decorations, wedding supplies, planning, ceremony and reception site guidelines, ethics and creating invitations. Education To Go, a part of Cengage Learning, offers an online certified wedding planner program that is taught via streaming online videos. The program covers 22 concepts including budget management; wedding etiquette; planning, coordinating and directing; ceremony structure; and customs and traditions. In addition, students learn about more than 15 ethnic wedding customs and international traditions.
International Wedding Schools
The Wedding Planner School offers wedding planning courses in Manchester and London, England. The courses are broken up into beginner, intermediate and advanced classes in addition to classes offered online. Concepts of this program include wedding etiquette and planning guidelines, themes, creating, designing and scouting venues. In San Marino, Italy, there is the Wedding Planner School of Italy. This school offers basic, advance and master courses in wedding concepts such as dealing with various nationalities and religious backgrounds, cultural and character specifics of weddings, organization of the weddings, choosing suppliers/services and wedding bureaucracy.
