There are a number of scholarships designed specifically for the children of Vietnam vets that can help reduce the financial burden of paying for college. If you're currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a higher education program and you're the child of a Vietnam vet, it's important to take advantage of any and all available scholarship opportunities.
Angelfire Scholarship
The Angelfire Scholarship is available to children of veterans who served in Vietnam, Cambodia or Laos between 1964 and 1975. Full- and part-time college students who currently attend Datatel client institutions are encouraged to apply, regardless of degree level or major. Applicants must have a 3.5 GPA and are required to submit a personal essay detailing how the scholarship will help them to further their educational goals. Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $1,700.

Mike Nash Memorial Fund Scholarship
The Mike Nash Memorial Fund Scholarship is available to children of Vietnam Veterans of America members who are attending an accredited two- or four-year college at least half-time. Recipients are selected based on their academic achievement, a personal essay and financial need. The amount of the award varies.

AVVA Better Chance Scholarship
The AVVA Better Chance Scholarship is available to children of Vietnam veterans who are current members of the Associates of Vietnam Veterans of America or Vietnam vets who have a KIA or MIA status. Scholarship amounts range from $500 to $1,000, and award selection is based on academic merit and financial need.

AMVETS Scholarships
The AMVETS Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who are the children of Vietnam veterans. Six $4,000 scholarships are awarded annually to students who demonstrate academic excellence as well as financial need. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA to be considered for the award.

VFW Veterans Tribute Scholarship
The VFW Veterans Tribute Scholarship is available to high school students ages 16 to 18 who are the children of Vietnam veterans. Scholarships range from $3,000 to $10,000, and awards are based on the student's academic achievement, his or her parent's military service and involvement with the local VFW chapter.
