Military schools exist throughout the United States to help educate and prepare students for college or a career in the military. In Georgia, there are a few options parents and prospective students can choose from, either for middle and high school, or college-level academics. Schools located close to the large city of Atlanta offer plenty of academic and extracurricular activities.
Riverside Military Academy
Riverside Military Academy, an all-boys school that serves grades seven through 12, is located a little more than 50 miles northeast of Atlanta.
The academy teaches approximately 360 cadets and has more than 40 teachers on staff. The average class size is 14 students and the curriculum is designed to prepare the students for college and future military endeavors.
Students stay in dorms and participate in extracurricular activities such as sports, clubs and societies.
Riverside Military Academy was founded in 1906 and is one of the few all-boys college preparatory military schools still operating in the United States.

Georgia Military College
Founded in 1879, Georgia Military College is a liberal arts junior college that prepares students for entry into four-year universities or to obtain two-year degrees.
The school offers Associates of Arts degrees in fields such as criminal justice, biology and psychology, and Associates of Science degrees in areas like business administration, information technology and paralegal studies.
Besides classes, there are many different student organizations, such as student government, newspaper and radio station.
The college boasts six locations throughout the state: Augusta, Columbus, Fairburn, Milledgeville, Valdosta and Warner Robins.

Benedictine Military School
Benedictine Military School is a all-male Catholic military high school located in Savannah. The day school is a college preparatory school with a rigorous curriculum that includes courses in advanced placement English, various foreign languages and religion.
The school offers team sports such as football, basketball, baseball and wrestling, as well as other extracurricular activities such as chess club, mock trial and model United Nations.
