ITT Technical Institute, commonly referred to as ITT Tech, is a private, for-profit postsecondary school that specializes in preparing students for careers in technical fields such as engineering, computer coding and communications. The school offers a variety of degree programs at the associate's, bachelor's and master's levels. ITT Tech students are eligible for the standard variety of types of institutional scholarships and federal grants.
Merit-Based Scholarship
ITT Tech offers the merit-based Presidential Scholarship to qualified students seeking bachelor's degrees at ITT Tech. The scholarship awards reductions in the cost of courses per credit hour to students in a variety of majors. Students majoring in project management and administration, information systems and cybersecurity, and electrical engineering and communications technology receive a greater reduction in tuition. To qualify for the scholarship, students must have graduated from an ITT Technical Institute with an associate's degree and have obtained an overall cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0.
Need-Based Scholarship
The Opportunity Scholarship is awarded to ITT Tech students enrolled in either an associate's or bachelor's degree program. The amount of the scholarship varies depending on the demonstrated need of the student. At the time of publication, associate's degree students who meet age and high school GPA requirements can receive up to $25,000 toward completing their program; students pursuing a bachelor's degree may receive up to $60,000. Students must attend one or more classes at ITT Tech in either the associate's or bachelor's program to receive the scholarship money.
Military Scholarship
ITT Tech recognizes military service by offering a 10 percent reduction in tuition to students who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces. Active and former members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard and military reserves are eligible for the scholarship. These scholarships are available without regard to whether the student is already receiving military educational benefits from the federal government. Students must also be first-time ITT Tech students enrolled in an associate's, bachelor's or master's degree program.
Federal Grant Money
ITT Tech is designated by the federal government as an eligible institution to participate in federal financial aid programs. ITT Tech students may qualify for Pell grants awarded by the federal government, which can be accessed through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, commonly referred to as FAFSA. At the time of publication, eligible students can receive up to $5,730 in grants that can be applied toward the cost of tuition at ITT Tech.
The federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) program provides limited grants to Pell-grant recipients with the lowest expected family contribution. At the time of publication, ITT Tech students typically receive between $200 and $500 each year. This award is also determined by the results of the FAFSA application.
