Michigan Works offers adult education classes for individuals in Southwest Michigan who would like to earn their GED. The classes are free and are offered year round. A high school diploma is required for most entry-level occupations; therefore, it is extremely important to your future to go back to school and earn your GED. It is never too late to get an education. Michigan Works has made it very simple to get started.
Gather your documents. You will need a photo ID and your birth certificate.
Call Michigan Works. They can be reached at 1-800-533-5800, extension 1169 or 1174. They will schedule you for a two- hour orientation session.
Attend orientation. You will learn more about the GED program and take a basic adult education assessment to determine where you should be placed academically.
Enroll in school. GED classes are offered year round. Locations include learning centers in Benton Harbor, Dowagiac, and Paw Paw. Once you complete the courses and pass your exams, you will earn your GED.
