Crest toothpaste company is an oral health brand owned by Procter & Gamble. As a multinational, multi-billion-dollar corporation, P&G uses part of its money and influence to make the world a better place. One of the ways Crest does this is by providing grants for community initiatives and scholarships to help students pay for school.
Background on the Crest Parent Company
The Crest parent company is Procter & Gamble, or P&G for short. P&G is an American company based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Founded in 1837, P&G is now the parent company for several brands in addition to Crest. These brands include household names such as Bounty, Charmin, Head & Shoulders, Olay, Gain, Tide and Gillette.
Crest Oral-B Dental Hygiene Scholarship
College students already in school to become dental hygienists can enter to win one of two $1,000 scholarships to help fund their dental hygiene education. To be eligible, applicants must have already finished at least one year of their dental hygienist program. Applicants must have at least a 3.5 GPA in their dental hygiene curriculum, and they must have otherwise demonstrated professional excellence by being a member of the ADHA and participating in professional experiences like internships.
The Crest Oral-B Dental Hygiene Scholarship is made possible through donations from the Crest parent company, P&G. The purpose of the scholarship is to reward and promote professionalism in the dental hygiene arena.
Most of P&G’s education donations, however, don't go to individual scholars. P&G instead tries to fund larger initiatives.
Colgate-Palmolive Donations
A similar fund is made possible by Colgate-Palmolive donations. Colgate-Palmolive is a competitor of some P&G brands like Crest. Colgate-Palmolive has partnered with the Hispanic Heritage Foundation to create a program to help high-achieving Hispanic high school students go on to higher education. Colgate-Palmolive donations created the Haz La U Program, which provides educational grants that total $100,000. Altogether, the program awards 31 scholarships, with the highest scholarship awarding $15,000. Interested applicants who qualify can apply through Colgate-Palmolive’s Haz La U Program page.
Why Should You Apply for Scholarships?
Earning a college education is more expensive than ever, but scholarships and grants can help you defray those costs. Even though it may seem like entering the lottery, receiving scholarships is easier than you think. Many scholarships receive few applications, so your chances of earning one, especially if you apply to several programs, are pretty high. Make sure your application has been proofread and you follow all instructions before you submit. That way, you'll increase your chance of winning a scholarship.
