A small number of junior and community colleges in New England offer programs in diagnostic medical sonography, a field the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts will grow by 18 percent from 2008 through 2018. Found in every state in the region with the exception of Vermont, New England's colleges with accredited or approved ultrasound programs feature curricula that combine classroom lectures with laboratory and clinical experience to give students a well-rounded education.
